{"id":3969,"date":"2025-05-05T10:16:42","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T10:16:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dementes.programate.pe\/?p=3969"},"modified":"2026-07-09T17:17:50","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T17:17:50","slug":"incidencia-internacional-nuestra-experiencia-abogando-por-la-salud-mental-en-la-onu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dementes.programate.pe\/en\/2025\/05\/05\/incidencia-internacional-nuestra-experiencia-abogando-por-la-salud-mental-en-la-onu\/","title":{"rendered":"International impact: our experience advocating for mental health at the UN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"translation-block\">Our co-founder and Executive Director, <span style=\"color: #2289a3\"><strong>Lucero Andaluz Llerena, represented De-Mentes and Peruvian civil society at the United Nations General Assembly Multi-Stakeholder Hearing<\/strong><\/span>, held ahead of the High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health in New York.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"501\" data-end=\"948\" class=\"translation-block\">Lucero was part of the international delegation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gmhan.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em data-start=\"553\" data-end=\"590\">Global Mental Health Action Network<\/em><\/a> (Global Mental Health Action Network), a <span style=\"color: #2289a3\"><strong>global network that brings together activists, experts, and organizations from around the world<\/strong><\/span> committed to promoting more accessible, equitable, and stigma-free mental health systems. Through this platform, she was able to advocate for millions of people facing structural barriers to mental health care, particularly in Peru and Latin America.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"950\" data-end=\"1407\" class=\"translation-block\">During her participation, <span style=\"color: #2289a3\"><strong>our Executive Director actively engaged in strategic meetings, events, and key negotiation spaces<\/strong><\/span>, contributing to the recognition of mental health as an essential component of health and sustainable development. Her presence and testimony were part of a collective effort to advocate with United Nations Member States and international organizations, promoting a human rights-based approach centered on equity and community participation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"950\" data-end=\"1407\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-27072 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dementes.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/delegacion.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"527\" height=\"372\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1785\" class=\"translation-block\">This experience not only <strong><span style=\"color: #2289a3\">reaffirmed De-Mentes\u2019 commitment to policy advocacy as a tool for transformation, but also opened new opportunities for our organization to engage and collaborate with global stakeholders<\/span><\/strong>.
